Family Law Attorney (3-5+ Years Experience)

Location: Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro Area (Hybrid)

About the Opportunity

A well-established and growing law firm is seeking a Family Law Attorney to join its busy and respected practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is looking to gain significant hands-on experience, manage a diverse family law caseload, and work closely with an experienced partner in a high-volume practice.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 3-5 years of family law experience, though attorneys with more experience are also encouraged to apply. The firm is open to considering recently licensed attorneys who have completed law school, passed the bar, and gained relevant legal experience through clerkships or similar family law-related roles.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a variety of family law matters, including:
    • Divorce and dissolution proceedings
    • Child custody and parenting time matters
    • Child support and spousal maintenance issues
    • Post-decree motions and modifications
    • Other family law-related proceedings
  • Draft legal pleadings, motions, and related documents
  • Conduct legal research and case analysis
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and negotiations
  • Manage cases from intake through resolution
  • Maintain strong client communication and provide strategic legal counsel
  • Meet deadlines and effectively manage a busy caseload

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Minnesota, or eligible for admission
  • Approximately 3-5 years of family law experience preferred
  • Attorneys with greater experience will also be considered
  • Recent graduates who have passed the bar and possess relevant clerkship or family law experience are encouraged to apply
  • Strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong commitment to client service

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $115,000-$125,000+, depending on experience
  • Additional compensation available for highly qualified candidates

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid schedule available
  • Typically 3 days in office and 2 days remote
